Houston v Atlanta This Weekend
The Houston Roller Derby Hard Knocks will host the Dirty South Derby Girls of the Atlanta Rollergirls Saturday evening in a WFTDA sanctioned interleague bout.
Currently ranked third in the South Central Region of the WFTDA, the Hard Knocks will be skating against the fifth ranked squad from Atlanta. Houston features jammers Mistilla the Killa, Death By Chocolate, DeMentia, and N Timid Ate Her. Top blockers for Houston include Nawty Dread Knocks, Miss Lead, Becky Booty, and Carmen Geddit.
Top jammers for Atlanta include Thunder Enlightnin, JuJu, Alassin Sane, and The Merchant of Menace. Featured blockers for the Dirty South Derby Girls consist of Queen Looseyateefa, Sk8 Outta Compton, Tanya Hyde, and Switchblade Siousie.
Action will take place at JOPA Sports, 17951 I-45 South in Shenandoah, Texas, just north of The Woodlands on the northbound I-45 frontage road. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the bout scheduled to start at 7 o’clock. Tickets are $10 for this bout. They may be obtained online at Houston’s web site http://houstonrollerderby.com/ or at the door at JOPA Sports.
Rosters are subject to change because of illness or injury on bout day.

Tournament in London
Roller Derby has definitely spread in recent years. So much that there is going to be a tournament in London this year. That would certainly make an interesting over-the-pond summer vacation.
Roll Britannia will take place July 18-19. Check for cheap air fares, and get yourself a European vacation.

Preview: Hell Marys visit from Austin
The Houston Roller Derby will host a double header this Saturday. In the first bout HRD’s Psych Ward Sirens will skate against the Hell Marys of the Texas Rollergirls from Austin. In the second bout of the evening the Bayou City Bosses will take on Burlesque Brawlers in a league match up.
The Hell Marys will be missing a few skaters on their trip to Houston, but still should be a very tough team to handle for the Sirens. The team from Austin will feature jammers Flame & Rage, The Angie Christ, and Sin O’Bite. Top blockers for the team in red plaid will be Ryder Down, Muffin Tumble, Kat A Killzem, and Jackin’ Jill. Flame & Rage previously skated for the Bayou City Bosses in Houston.
The Psych Ward Sirens are likely to feature Mistilla the Killa, DeMentia, and Jekyll and Heidi as prominent jammers for this bout. Top blockers include Carmen Geddit, Sick Nick, Tex Offender, and Copperhead.
The second bout will feature the defending champion Bayou City Bosses against an explosive Burlesque Brawlers. The Bosses feature Death By Chocolate, Miss Lead, and Babyface Assassin as jammers. Top blockers include Nawty Dread Knocks, Becky Booty, Daily Beatings and Rebel Ann for the Bosses. But both teams will be missing league all star skaters from this bout because of injuries.
The Brawlers top jammers include Speed O, Private Been Jammin’, and Chainsaw Chic. Featured blockers for the team in purple include Starr Doom, Wreck Hell Welch, Sinister Sista, and Creeping Beauty.
The double header will take place at Kicks Indoor Soccer and Gym, 611 Shepherd Drive in Houston, Texas. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the bout scheduled to start rolling at 7 o’clock.
